One way: Attach a piece of wood, perpendicularly to the back of horazontal pieces(lintols?) Use this added element to secure the shelving to the wall. You may only need to do this at the top and bottom.
Also, if you are putting a back on the bookshelf you can put as many screws in as you want since they'll be hidden, unless you aren't putting it up against the wall. So those will provide more support too.

Does this make sense?
I think at least part of it depends on the weight of the wood and what you will end up putting the shelves..
